The Antimicrobial Resistance Governance Group (ARGG)

The Antimicrobial Resistance Governance Group (ARGG) manages the implementation of the National AMR Strategy. The Chairs of the ARGG are the Australian Chief Veterinary Officer and the Australian Government Chief Medical Officer.

The Antimicrobial Resistance Governance Group (ARGG):

  • provides national coordination and linkages between One Health sectors
  • manages the implementation of the National AMR Strategy – 2020 and Beyond
  • provides input to international AMR issues
  • provides advice to government on AMR issues, including the options available to prevent and contain the spread of AMR
  • works with other Australian Government departments relevant to the One Health sectors
  • works with state and territory governments to implement strategies to reduce AMR.
